We have employed an independent travel planning consultancy, Velocity, in response to comments and concerns raised in relation to the car park at JAGS Sports Club.
Velocity will be undertaking a survey w/c 4th November, where 12 cameras will be set up across the site. They will record footage for one week from 6am to 11pm and will operate site-wide, including at the end of the driveway into the Club. The cameras are for commercial use and as such, have non-facial recognition, ensuring that everyone captured remains anonymous. The crucial information they will provide includes:
- The number of each mode of transport coming into the Club (pedestrian, bike, car).
- Routes into the Club.
- The length of time cars stay at the Club.
- Potential conflict between pedestrians, cyclists and cars.
In addition to this, Velocity would like to invite members and club users to take part in a written survey. We encourage as many people as possible to complete this to ensure all voices are heard. Paper copies will be available at the Club w/c 4th November but the online survey can be completed now by clicking here.
Velocity is a registered transport consultancy, that has been providing similar services in the UK for over 7 years, and had undertaken a number of surveys at schools, leisure centres and other sites, and will be responsible for analysing and reporting back on the collected data. The survey (installing cameras and data counts) will be undertaken by Advanced Transport Research (A-T-R) which has been working in collaboration with Velocity for 7 years.
The following measures will be put in place to ensure the security of the data:
- The recording will be used to count vehicle, cycle and pedestrian movements, and the counts will be undertaken by staff employed at ATR in their office environment from a secure server.
- A recording will be stored on A-T-R secure system for six months.
- The footage will then be safely destroyed after this period.
- The cameras will installed and switched to record the footage on site.
- There will be no audio recording facility in the cameras.
- There will be no face-recognition facilities in the cameras.
- The duration of stay will be measured for the cars that park on-site, not people.
- The survey data or the findings will not be shared publicly.
- ATR will comply with the GDPR data protection policy and has a Data Protection Certificate in place.
Velocity will report their findings back to us before the end of the year.
